Dr. David Dean Ellis has a wide array of expertise in the fields of fitness training and Mind Dynamics.
In the field of Marital Arts, Dr. Ellis has 21 years of experience. He holds a first degree black belt in Judo and a fourth degree black belt in Budokai. He has been a gold medallist Caribbean level competition and has represented his home country “St. Lucia” on many occasions. He is a Certified National Coach with the Barbados Martial Sports Federation (B.M.S.F) and is a member of the Caribbean Martial Arts Referees Association (CMARA). He has been awarded by the University of the West Indies for starting their Martial Arts and Self defense program during his time at that institution.
As a Yoga Practitioner, Dr. Ellis has not only been able to establish his own Yoga Alliance registered teacher training school, but has played an active role in promoting Yoga in Barbados through annual demonstrations at the Nation’s Healthy Lifestyle Festivals and other such events. He has graduated seven teachers from his school and has been recently been given the Rudrach mala (for satsanga) from one of his teachers Vijaylakshmi Sahai. He has taught yoga Master classes in Grenada (La Source Hotel) and St. Lucia (Le Sport Hotel)
Dr. Ellis has is also a certified Pilates Instructor who specializes in Mat and Ball training. His unique blend of Hatha yoga Stretching combined with Greek Calisthenics training and Pilates Toning and strengthening techniques has gained a following on the island.
As a personal trainer and instructor Dr. Ellis has taught in the following establishments, World Gym Barbados, First Class Fitness Centre, West One Fitness Studio, Fiddlers Barbell Gym, Port St. Charles, and Royal Westmoreland where he holds regular classes.
In the field of Holistic health care Dr. Ellis holds valid certifications in the following: Biogenic Cooking (levels 1,2 and 3), Holistic Heath Care (Diagnosis and Prescriptive modules), Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy Treatment (Applied Health Centre), Massage Therapy (NCBTMB registered # 157428-00), Usui Reiki Master level.
In his academic and professional life Dr. Ellis has also excelled. He has been A University Special scholar with the University of the West Indies. He is a chartered member of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association, and The British School of Analytical and Cognitive Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy as an external Lecturer and tutor. He belong to the American Society of Alternative Therapists, The International Association of Yoga Therapist, The Professional Board of Hypnotherapy and the World Psychotherapy Counsel.
He has been taught by such names as Dr. Liala O Afrika (Author of African Holistic health), Vijaylakshmi Sahai (founder of Naturalpath), Dr. Anne Spencer (head of Infinity Institute International and President of the International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association, and Dr. William Horton (President of the American Guild of Neuro-linguistic Practitioners).
Recently Dr. Ellis has undergone further training in Beauty Therapy and cosmetics. This step is in an effort to blend external aesthetics with the concept of Holistic Health Care. He intends to adopt a more natural approach to the field of cosmetology and beauty therapy.
