Yoga school
Established as a means of teaching effective holistic living, the Institute's Yoga school holds regular classes in the principles of Yoga exercise. In addition, the school offers courses in Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Yoga for students who wish to take the practice more seriously. In June, 2002, the Institute began its first ever international Teacher Training course curriculum for advanced students of the practice who wish to deepen their knowledge of the system. The course has been registered by the World Yoga Alliance, an independent body created for the promotion of authentic Yoga traditions.
Why Yoga
Yoga provides one of the best means of self-improvement and attaining one's full potential. In the advanced stages of yoga, super conscious states are attained which result in a feeling of bliss, deep peace and the emergence of psychic powers.
Yoga was developed and perfected over the centuries by philosophers and mystics in India. It is basically a method by which we increase the body's supply of energy and remove any interference to the transmission of energy throughout the body.
These days, yoga classes are being held at most health and wellness centers across the United States. Along with meditation, it is probably one of the most popular alternative therapy. Many physicians, who are skeptical about the efficacy of alternative medicine, support yoga with a passion. There are many clinical studies that show the effectiveness of yoga. And the best part of it is that it is something that can be done in the comfort of your home. A few breathing exercises recommended by yoga will go a long way towards better health and relaxation.
Pilates
Imagine an exercise program that you look forward to, that engages you, and that leaves you refreshed and alert with a feeling of physical and mental well-being. The Pilates Method (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) of body conditioning will do all this...and more.
Developed in the 1920s by the legendary physical trainer Joseph H. Pilates, The Pilates Method is an exercise system focused on improving flexibility and strength for the total body without building bulk. Not surprisingly, some of the first people to use the Pilates Method were dancers such as Martha Graham and George Balanchine.
The Pilates Method is not just exercise, however. It is a series of controlled movements engaging your body and mind, performed on specifically designed exercise apparatus and supervised by extensively trained teachers
